Cool new gadgets I want

iNnovation: 2 Freakishly Futuristic iPhone Add-Ons

When the iPhone came out, did anyone really expect it to spawn all kinds of bizarre add-on devices that could make this seemingly innocuous smartphone powerful enough to do pretty much whatever we want it to? Well, we have a feeling some people did, because iPhone gadgets with associated apps have been bouncing out left and right. One of the most interesting (and useful) ones we’ve seen lately is this $50 dongle that turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a universal remote. It’s made by L5 Technology, who debuted the device at CES 2010. According to them, it’ll actually control any compatible device within about 30 feet via a free app from the app store. Just select the devices you want to control, drag and drop buttons where you want them, and you’re good to go.

Another handy invention to debut at CES was the Mophie credit card reader device. It’ll let you take payments with nothing more than your iPhone, a third-party app, and this little device which attaches directly to your phone. Imagine how much easier this would be for merchants than carrying around a computer to take credit cards at trade shows and other remote locations.

Neck-Mounted Camera Lets You Blog Every Second of Life

You thought those personal blogs detailing every moment of some random person’s every day were annoying? Get ready for an even more personal level of sharing: the Vicon Revue is a wearable digital camera that takes pictures all day with no effort on the user’s part. The first version released is a research model used as a “memory aid” for people with Alzheimer’s or other memory issues…but the consumer version will likely be used for photographic picblogging of the fascinating minutiae of strangers’ lives.

The camera is equipped with a whole suite of sensors that tell it when to start snapping furiously. When the wearer’s environmental conditions – like the lighting level or ambient temperature – change, it snaps one pic per second. Otherwise, it takes a new picture every 30 seconds. If you’re the type of person who is inclined to record every second of every day, the Vicon Revue offers a simple way to do that without putting a lot of work into it. And since the camera is worn around the neck instead of held up to the face, it’s possible that the people you interact with will feel more at-ease than they would with a conventional camera pointed at them.

Cool Underwater Camera Casts Off to Catch Sea Life Pics

Here’s an invention for everyone who loves watching marine life at the beach but doesn’t want to actually get into the water. The Beriscope looks like a child’s toy, but it’s actually a little more sophisticated than that. The spherical end of the gizmo – which is actually a camera – is attached to a long tether that allows the ball to descend into the water. The user then places the device up to their eyes to watch the underwater show.

Throwing the camera into the water is a bit like casting a fishing line: you rear back and then let it go with all your might. When you’re ready to bring the camera back up, just twist on the opposite hand grip and the cord retracts like magic. Everything is coated in protective rubber, minimizing the chance that the device will be broken on the way down or the way back up.

It’s easy to imagine a gadget like this being used to scout out potential diving spots or just to get a taste of what it’s like under the water for those who aren’t able to scuba dive. It would be nearly impossible to direct the ball camera to a specific place, so this camera seems best left to those who are able to go with the flow and watch whatever underwater visions might happen to float by. But if the designer, Jaewon Choi, were able to add a light to the design, we can see it becoming a hot rental item at beaches all around the world.

God does not deal directly with man: it is by means of spirits that all the intercourse and communication of gods with men, both in waking life and in sleep, is carried on.

Socrates

Be an angel to someone else whenever you can, as a way of thanking God for the help your angel has given you.

Our human weakness is protected by the assistance of the Angels and…in all our perils, provided faith remain with us, we are defended by the aid of spiritual powers.

The benevolent guardian angel of the 1940s was, of course, Superman. While a cloak replaced the wings, this expression of the all powerful guardian archetype, who battled the evil dragons of satanic violence, greed and injustice, replaced the Archangel Michael in the popular imagination.

St. Ignatius of Loyola

Time is man's angel.

Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller, The Death of Wallenstein

Ruth J. Moro, Angels in Our Midst - A Naturalistic Embrace of the Miraculous

It is often stated that when an Angel descends to the earth, it brings with it a part of the light of the heavens, thus perhaps explaining the strong association of white to represent that light.

Through the 13th century, paintings of Angels exhibit a predominantly masculine appearance. Over the next 300 years, their images become more delicate, gentle, and feminine, until Angels are shown as androgynous or even distinctly female.

David Connolly, In Search of Angels

One thing is clear: Angels are far more than projections of the divine mind or literary devices. They are real, personal beings, even if their corporeality is totally different from ours.

Angels encourage us by guiding us onto a path that will lead to happiness and hope.

Andy Lakey

Billy Graham, Angels: God's Secret Agents

And I saw another Angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people.

Encyclopedia Judaica

Whether each of the faithful has a particular angel assigned him for his defence, I cannot venture certainly to affirm; not one angel only has the care of every one of us, but that all the angels together with one consent watch over our salvation.

John Calvin

A shiver runs down your spine when you realize it is not our imagination. Something is watching us out there.

Sophy Burnham, A Book of Angels

Angels are men of a superior kind; Angels are men in lighter habit clad.

The aura of light that surrounds them, especially the haloes that encircle their heads, suggests a quite different role. Their wings betoken their coming to mankind as messengers, but their haloes symbolize that they come from heaven which is their home.

Mortimer J. Adler, Angels and Us

The wisdom of the ages teaches that each individual, whether believer or not, good or bad, old or young, sick or well, rich or poor, has a personal Guardian Angel with him or her at every moment of life's journey.

Janice T. Connell, Angel Power

Angels are intelligent reflections of light, that original light which has no beginning. They can illuminate. They do not need tongues or ears, for they can communicate without speech, in thought.

Ruzbehan Baqli

Our certainty that angels right now witness how we are walking through life should mightily influence the decisions we make. God is watching, and His angels are interested spectators too.

Heaven comes to people - and their loved ones - when they are dying. It is not uncommon for angels to appear when people are on the edge of death, and people who have had near-death experiences often describe feelings of indescribable peace. Angels.

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

The virtue of angels is that they cannot deteriorate; their flaw is that they cannot improve. Man's flaw is that he can deteriorate; and his virtue is that he can improve.

Somehow the Angels comfort me whenever I have tears...And always they encourage me to overcome my fears...I tell them all of my troubles when they seem too much to bear...And I put my faith and confidence in their almighty care...

St. Thomas Aquinas

The higher orders [of angels] are presumed to be closer in their nature to God and to function in roles that serve God more directly than the lower orders, which tend to the administration of the physical universe and the service of humankind. Angelica, Angelica archangelica, is the herb of the angels. Greater association with the Angels lifts our minds from ourselves and focuses them upon ways and means by which we too may assist in establishing God's Plan.

Flower A. Newhouse, Rediscovering the Angels

Angels are spirits, but it is not because they are spirits that they are angels. They become Angels when they are sent. For the name Angel refers to their office, not their nature. You ask the name of this nature, it is spirit; you ask its office, it is that of an Angel, which is a messenger.

St. Augustine

When humans face testings and tragedy, they should remember the Angels who are always standing ready to lend their celestial assistance, comfort, and counsel.

Flower A. Newhouse, Rediscovering the Angels

Angel Energy follows God's Laws and can only be used for the greatest good for all.

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

Angels can help us understand what intuition means in a personal way. Angels are actually in charge of a large part of our intuitive self. Viewing intuition from the perspective of angel consciousness, we can say that intuition is our way of tapping into a higher power for guidance and awareness.

Terry Lynn Taylor, Guardians of Hope: The Angel Guide to Personal Growth

So far we still don't know whether angels are ethereal beings of light without substance or if they take a solid human form with real wings which actually enable them to fly.

Malcolm Godwin, Angels: An Endangered Species

Whatever you put your attention on in this life will increase in your life. As you put your attention on angels, they will begin increasingly to make their presence known to you.

Denise Linn, Sacred Space

It is not righteousness that you turn your faces toward east or west; but it is righteous to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the angels and the Book and the messengers.

The Koran

Angels are the dispensers and administrators of the divine beneficence toward us. They regard our safety, undertake our defense, direct our ways, and exercise a constant solicitude that no evil befall us.

John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion

Have you ever considered that, just perhaps, the reason you have gotten as far as you have is because of the invisible work of anonymous Angels? Good strangers in the night?

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

You don't need a formal prayer or invocation to call the Angels to your side. Simply think, "Angels, please surround me," and they are there.

Doreen Virtue, Divine Guidance

September 29 is the feast day for the three Angels mentioned by name in the Bible - Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.

John Ronner, Know Your Angels

He who has fed a stranger may have fed an Angel.

The Talmud

God created the Angels to serve Him and His people. If there is anything we can learn from the Bible about Angels, it's that they are real. Angels exist.

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

Remember, angels are both God's messengers and God's message, witnesses to eternity in time, to the presence of the divine amidst the ordinary. Every moment of every day is riddled by their traces.

F. Forrester Church, Entertaining Angels

But we can all be angels to one another. We can choose to obey the still small stirring within, the little whisper that says, "Go. Ask. Reach out. Be an answer to someone's plea. You have a part to play. Have faith." The world will be a better place for it. And wherever they are, the angels will dance.

Joan Wester Anderson, Where Angels Walk

It must be recess in heaven if St. Peter is letting his angels out.

Zora Neale Hurston, Their Eyes Were Watching God

Guardian angels are perhaps the most popular kind, probably because we all know how fragile life can be. We desperately need protection from unexpected circumstances and unseen dangers. Just the thought of good angels hovering around us gives people a feeling of safety!

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

When we are overcome by some evil will, should we not tremble before the presence of the choirs of angels that surround us?

St. Hilary

Angels live no place, as God lives no place. They live in the space of eternity, in the center of our hearts, and sometimes I think we each serve as the channels and angels of God, touched by wings of silence, pushed to angelic acts.

Sophy Burnham, A Book of Angels

The minute you speak to your angel for the first time, you will never be alone again, because our angels are always with us. No matter where you are as you read this, you are surrounded by angels. Your room, your office, your garden, are filled with angelic presences.

Eileen Elias Freeman, Angelic Healing

Angels play a very active role in the purposes of God and the affairs of men, but do not control human events or violate the free will of human beings.

Gary Kinnaman, Angels Dark and Light

Angels are inseparable friends, who bring strength and consolation to those who include them in their lives. In truth, angels are our best friends.

Janice T. Connell, Angel Power

The truth of angels is they have many shapes, forms, sizes, appearances, and duties. You will see angels as you need to see them. Sometimes you may see only a burst of light in a darkened room or a cloudy form around a person's body.

Barbara Mark and Trudy Griswold, Angelspeake: How to Talk with Your Angel

Becoming aware of our angels' hidden presence in our lives is not difficult or arduous, but it is subtle and requires great patience.

Eileen Elias Freeman, Touched by Angels

Your two guardian angels are always with you. The other angels come and go as we need them.

Doreen Virtue, Divine Guidance

The angels see you as dazzling young diamonds which are being polished to perfection.

Elsa Joy Bailey, "Angelbytes"

Where Scripture speaks of the world's creation, it is not plainly said whether or when the angels were created; but if mention is made, it is implicit under the name of "heaven," when it is said, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

St. Augustine

We have been so long in a downward spin. The angels are calling us up. We are meant to fly and with our spirits we can. We are meant to ascend, to transmute the negative mass of the world's corrupted thought forms. No one asked us to stay so long, away from heaven, away from joy.

Marianne Williamson, Illuminata

The angels as the guardians of men are set over men as instructors and monitors. This shows the relationship that is to exist between them. Man's attitude is to be one of obedience and subjection. He is to follow the lead of the angels, and consequently some reverence is already implied in the very relationship that exists between man and angel.

Tertullian

It is at the hour of death that the good angel shows the greatest zeal in protecting and defending the soul committed to his care, invoking often the assistance of other angels against the wiles and fury of Satan.

Unaccustomed to recognizing any power greater than his own, Western man, in his need to find an answer to his contradictions, may be forced to his knees in an inner struggle with the angel of the Lord, who could be the bringer of the missing and saving element.

Theodora Ward, Men and Angels

In the strictest definition, an angel is a superior being living in the spirit world - standing between humans and God.

“The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven.” – John Milton

Relax -- What's That?
I have trouble relaxing. I don't think I'm alone in my inability to completely relax. How many of us leave our offices every night and leave our jobs behind until the next morning? Not many, I'm sure. So many of us, thanks to technology, find ourselves bringing work with us, even when we are on vacation. I encourage you to take time away from work when you can, but even if that isn't possible, you should find a little time to relax each day. Your mind, body and soul will feel much better.

Do you need a Brand Amabassador???

How to Be Kind

1. Be happy (not phony happy). Before you can be kind to others you have to be kind to yourself. Calling yourself fat or ugly makes you feel bad and you may try to criticize other people for justification.

2. Avoid gossiping/spreading rumors about other people. If someone is being mean to another person, like calling them stupid or fat, try not to join in. You could even stand up for them. If your friends are aggressively teasing or gossiping about someone, give a non-confrontational defense---such as "She's always been nice to me" (provided she has always been nice to you; lying is wrong, so don't lie)---or steer them away from that conversation topic to at least delay them until you leave.

3.Be a good listener. When talking to someone, try to listen and sincerely pay attention until they are almost done.

4.Compliment people lavishly. For example, to comment on something they're wearing, you can say "Oh, I love your shirt!" or "Your shoes are awesome!". Try not to get jealous; if they know you're jealous it can cause an awkward moment; it's very awkward when you want something they're wearing. If someone compliments you, thank them and continue what you were doing or compliment them in return, out of obligation (remember this person is trying to be nice and friendly towards you, perhaps wanting to be your friend).

5. Be yourself, don't concern yourself with whether or not you look "dumb" while you are doing something; most of the time people aren't really paying attention anyway.

6. Start each day with a plan. Think of what you would like to see and do, then think of someone who is lonely, perhaps lives alone and has no family (the more depressed the better!). Ask this person to join you in your plan for the day. Share your time with them (e.g. ask them to lunch); this could be the highlight of their week or life. Take joy in making others happy!

7. Offer to pet-sit when you know a friend is going on vacation. If you know a neighbor is sick, ask them if they need groceries when you go grocery shopping.

8. Stop and talk to someone who is lonely, share a cup of coffee and pay twice the bill.

9. Whatever you say, whenever you say it, do so in a calm, polite voice that is respectful to the other party. Don't unneccessarily raise your voice, as it makes you seem like a rude person.

10. Help, even if you aren't asked. You should look around to see if anyone needs help and help them without prompt. It can be a simple thing, to help someone with something that he seems to have difficulties in or something you think he needs or will need. Whenever you can, try to help someone else. It could be at their work, with their homework or about their relationships and more. If someone asks you something, be open-minded and don't immediately dismiss them, try to be as helpful as you can. Even if you don't do what they asked, you can at least suggest another to possibly aid them.

11. Make it a hobby to volunteer somewhere every once in a while or do something really nice for other people.

12. Don't feel the need to gloat about your good-deeds; be humble. Doing something nice solely for the good graces of those around you isn't really kindness. Aiding someone unaware of your help can feel just as good.

13. Adopt pets; it is an excellent exercise of loving kindness. You can even adopt temporarily by offering to foster an animal and help socialize it so that it can be adopted by another family or person.

14. If someone is upset, comfort them by consoling them and giving them a hug. Ask them if they would like to talk about it. If they have had a fallen out with a friend that is your friend, hear both sides of the story before picking sides and do not annoy them if they want to talk in private.

My thoughts today :)

I just got off an important phone call that could change my future. I'm so happy. Don't let anyone change who you are!!!!! Details to come in future blogs.

I'm staying positive and I'm going to keep moving forward in a positive direction. I'm so lucky to be surrounded by people who love me.
